Sonia Mohammed-Chérif is an emerging composer, as well as a songwriter, performer (piano and vocals), and vocal coach.
In 2024, she composed her first original score for the screen for *Parents à perpétuité*, a poignant TV movie directed by Safy Nebbou for France 2, for which she created an atmospheric and dramatic score centered around the cello and piano, echoing the intensity of the family drama. Her musical world oscillates between dreaminess, contemplation, and melancholy. While she has a particular fondness for acoustic textures, Sonia also explores hybrid territories by blending classical instrumentation with electronic elements.
She is currently collaborating with Ibrahim Maalouf on the co-composition of the soundtrack for the feature film *Fils de personne*, also directed by Safy Nebbou, a production by Mandarin & Cie and Playtime.
With a professional master’s degree in film from the Sorbonne, Sonia has trained in both filmmaking and the technical aspects of audiovisual production. She has directed two short films that were broadcast on France 3 and Ciné+, and rounded out her education with a BTS in audiovisual production—specializing in sound. This dual approach to cinematic language, blending image and sound, constantly informs her approach to composition, always in service of the narrative.
With sensitivity and a commitment to excellence, Sonia is now embarking on a new career as a film composer, driven by her lifelong passion for music and the human voice.
